Office Expansion to Randolph, NJ
VANGUARD MEDICAL GROUP ANNOUNCES EXPANSION TO RANDOLPH, NEW JERSEY
FAIRFIELD AND RANDOLPH, NJ — May 15, 2017 — Vanguard Medical Group, a multisite primary care practice focusing on care for children, adults and seniors in Northern and Central New Jersey, will open an office in Randolph, New Jersey, on June 1, 2017.
The new location expands Vanguard’s patient base and will allow the practice to continue to build on its focus of improving patient outcomes and experiences. Vanguard Medical Group is a physician-led practice at the forefront of the population health movement, which prioritizes value over volume in order to deliver better health care at reduced costs.
“Our focus has always been on quality care for our patients,” said Robert Eidus, M.D., president of Vanguard Medical Group. “Vanguard Medical Group was founded on the principles of providing highly personalized, comprehensive primary medical care that puts the patient first. We foster long-lasting doctor-patient relationships that are associated with better health outcomes.”
Vanguard Medical Group at Randolph will be led by Alan D. Furst, M.D., a physician board-certified in family medicine with a background in emergency medicine and urgent care. Medical services at Randolph will include appointment-based and walk-in family medicine; urgent care; advanced care coordination for patients with chronic illnesses; and prepaid comprehensive primary care for patients without insurance.
“I joined Vanguard because it’s a growing regional primary care practice led by like-minded, local independent physicians with a shared mission of putting patients first,” said Dr. Furst. “I’m looking forward to establishing relationships with new patients and reconnecting with others who may follow me to this new location.”
The Randolph office is located at 477 Route 10 East, Suite 205, Randolph, New Jersey. It will be open Monday through Friday with evening hours available, and walk-ins will be welcome. For additional information, call 973-560-9500.
With the Randolph location, Vanguard Medical Group now has seven offices throughout Northern and Central New Jersey and is recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance for patient-centered medical homes. A PCMH is a primary care practice where health care professionals work as a team to provide patients with care that is tailored to meet their specific needs and ensure they have the resources to make healthy choices. The team also coordinates patient care with other health care specialists in the community. The practice becomes the patients’ “home” for preventive, chronic and ambulatory care.
About Alan D. Furst, M.D.
Dr. Furst brings more than 35 years of experience to Vanguard Medical Group. Previously, he was medical director for Atlantic Health System’s First Primary Care at Denville. He also served as attending physician at Morristown Medical Center, a position that he will continue in his new capacity at Vanguard.
He pioneered the concept of an urgent care center as an alternative to a hospital emergency room, and in 1982 he opened the first-of-its-kind urgent care clinic in a rural area of New Jersey. Since then, he has owned and operated a number of urgent care facilities in New Jersey.
Before that, Dr. Furst served as president of Emergency Medical Associates of New Jersey and director of Emergency Medical Services at St. Clare’s Medical Center. He is a frequent lecturer on occupational medicine and on sports medicine education.
Dr. Furst earned his M.D. from UMDNJ New Jersey Medical School at Newark, and his bachelor’s degree from New York University. He resides in Morris County, New Jersey.

The motivation to develop a larger regional primary care practice was the recognition that the health care system was rapidly changing in ways that did not support small or solo independent physician practices. The founding physicians of Vanguard believe that a strong culture of locally led practices, guided by a shared vision and governed by shared values, must be at the core of this new organization.
Many of the founding physicians have practiced for more than 20 years in their respective communities and are leaders in their local health care delivery systems. Vanguard physicians have been at the forefront of primary care in New Jersey, and our staff includes past presidents of the New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians, residency directors, family practice department chairs at our hospitals and faculty at our New Jersey medical schools. Vanguard Medical Group accepts most major insurance plans.
