Physician Assistant Builds Connections Through Care

“Getting to interact with patients and making a positive impact on their health is truly such a privilege.”

For Lauren Renna, PA-C, one of the most rewarding parts of healthcare is building trusted relationships with patients as she helps them navigate their health and well-being.

“I’ve always wanted to help others and make a difference in people’s lives,” Lauren says. “Whether I’m helping someone understand a diagnosis, providing resources during a difficult time or simply listening, I value the opportunity to be there for my patients.”

Lauren’s interest in becoming a physician assistant began while she was exploring possible careers in healthcare. She shadowed providers in a variety of specialties and settings, which first introduced her to the PA profession. After college, she gained additional firsthand experience as a scribe in an emergency department and as a medical assistant in dermatology. Working alongside PAs in both settings solidified her decision to pursue the profession herself.

She was drawn to Vanguard Medical Group because of its patient-centered approach to care and the opportunity to develop the kind of ongoing relationships with patients that she values.

Patients often describe Lauren as approachable and a good listener – qualities she works intentionally to bring to every visit. She takes time to hear patients’ concerns, make them feel comfortable and explain diagnoses and treatment plans in a way they can understand.

“I want patients to feel heard, and be well informed about their options,” she says. “I believe patient education empowers people to take a more active role in their health.”

When she’s not working, Lauren enjoys baking, reading and crafting. She also loves to travel, explore new places and make time for the activities that help her recharge.
