As of October 2025, a new NJ State regulation requires us to inform you of your right to have a trained observer present during breast, genital, or rectal examinations. Trained observer courses teach medical staff how to serve as a neutral independent observer (also known as a chaperone) during certain medical encounters. Our certified medical assistants have completed observer training and are happy to support you. Either you or your provider may request a trained observer, and if one is unavailable, you have the right to reschedule.
