Vanessa Marrero
Director of Operations
Vanessa Marrero has dedicated her entire career to advancing healthcare operations and improving the patient experience. She joined Vanguard Medical Group in 1997 as a part-time evening receptionist in the Verona office and steadily grew her career through positions of increasing responsibility. From evening clinical supervisor to practice administrator and primary care operations manager, Vanessa’s journey reflects her deep commitment to both patients and staff. Today, she serves as Vanguard’s Director of Operations.
In her current role, Vanessa oversees eight primary care sites along with the organization’s telehealth department. She works closely with the executive leadership team and managing partners to align operations with Vanguard’s strategic goals, ensuring both consistency across the organization and flexibility to meet the unique needs of each practice. Supervisors at each location report directly to Vanessa, as does Vanguard’s training specialist, enabling her to support staff development and high-quality patient care.
For Vanessa, operational excellence is about people first. “When we take care of our providers and staff, they are better able to take care of our patients,” she says. “That connection drives me every single day.” She places equal emphasis on patient experience and staff experience, believing that engaged and supported teams are the foundation of compassionate, effective care.
Vanessa’s passion for healthcare began early. At age 14, she worked the front desk for a geriatrician and internal medicine physician, assisting patients in both English and Spanish. She later earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Rutgers University. Over more than two decades at Vanguard, she has built strong teams, advanced operational processes, and helped guide the organization into the future of healthcare delivery.
