Lauren Royce Guides Patients to Better Health

“Knowledge is power when it comes to helping patients live healthier lives.”

Physician Assistant Lauren Royce discovered her dream career when she volunteered as an EMT. “I absolutely loved it,” she said, “and I wanted to be part of that patient-health provider relationship.” With a lifelong passion for science and a natural ability to connect with people, Lauren had always considered a career in medicine. The EMT experience confirmed it.

Lauren went on to earn her physician assistant degree, initially working in a hospital setting. But something was missing. “I would see patients only for the duration of their hospital stays,” she said. “I couldn’t be part of their continuity of care.” That’s when Lauren decided to join a primary care practice. She chose Vanguard Medical Group because she knew “it was a well-respected practice that is consistently at the forefront of medicine.”

At Vanguard, Lauren is enjoying helping her patients live healthier lives. “My patients say that I’m very thorough and a good listener. I take the time to educate them because when they have that knowledge, they’re more apt to take the steps needed to stay healthy.” She addresses wellness even during sick visits. “I’ll encourage them to schedule a physical if they don’t have a recent one on file, so that we have a baseline. That’s how we can provide the best care possible.”

She also stays up to date on the latest in medical research. “Medicine is always evolving, and you continually have to educate yourself to do the best for your patients,” she said.

When she’s not working, Lauren loves to travel with her husband. Both are self-professed foodies and enjoy trying new restaurants.
