In the Spotlight: Adrienne Salerno, M.D.

Meet Adrienne Salerno, M.D.

Dr. Adrienne Salerno is the newest member of Vanguard Medical Group in North Haledon and brings a unique set of skills to our practice complimenting the other skilled physicians in the group. Her unique practice has resulted from a combination of enhanced training and personal experience.

Breast-feeding advice 24-hours a day and newborn house calls

She has a special interest in the pediatric population of the community and new breast-feeding mothers. Knowing both the pressures that come with being a new mom and the health benefits of breast-feeding, Dr. Salerno dedicates special attention to new mothers as they begin the journey of motherhood with nursing their new little ones. She sets aside additional, personalized time by making house calls for newborns in the first few weeks of life and makes herself available to these nursing mothers at all hours.

Helping to implement continuation of nursing the newest little ones even for working moms

She is an advocate for breastfeeding. After caring for two of her own newborns, she developed the personal experience that allowed her to make this an important goal of her practice. Continuing to breastfeed her own children as a working mother helped her better understand the challenges and barriers other working mothers face today in our community.

And if you or your little one need urgent attention…

In addition to preventative care and chronic disease management in all age groups, Dr. Salerno is well equipped to take care of most urgent care needs in the office from acute infections to lacerations and burns. Most patients can be seen the same day, and most patients can be fully treated in the office without a trip to the emergency room. She is well trained in laceration repair as well as minor in-office surgical procedures attributable to an extra year of training with plastic surgeons in New York City. This allowed her to learn the best techniques for repairing acute lacerations as well as chronic partial and complete earlobe tears that can be done in an outpatient office. She performs many outpatient procedures such as excision of suspicious moles and unwanted growths to repair of lacerations that can be done quickly an often faster than a trip to the emergency room.
